When you need to glue marble together, either a 2-part Epoxy (Polyepoxide) glue, or Epoxy Cement is appropriate for repairs or sticking marble to other surfaces.
Cleaning the Marble
Marble should first be cleaned before applying glue. Starting with a clean surface always results in a better finish. Acetone is best to remove dirt or oily substances from the surface of the marble. If you don’t have acetone available, use detergent.
Epoxy Glue for Marble
Epoxy glue or resin is a quick-drying solution for repairing and gluing marble. Epoxy glue comes in 2 parts which are mixed together before gluing. Follow the packaging instructions when mixing the 2 parts.
Gluing Marble With Epoxy Grout
Epoxy grout is faster drying than cement grout. Epoxy grout can be color-matched to suit your marble. It is recommended for repairs to marble tiles.
Tips on Gluing Marble With Epoxy
Epoxy dries rapidly, so work fast. Clean excess wet glue as soon as possible, as it is virtually impossible to remove once it is dry. Curing time is between 12 and 24 hours.
Always clamp the marble or place a heavy object over it to help with the bonding process.
